Esus is the first integrated eating disorder treatment centre in Australia
Our model incorporates a seamless transition of care across the service. We offer:
- A daily Intensive Treatment Program (ITP) targeting nutritional restoration and compensatory behaviours, as the foundation for ongoing psychological therapy.
- Low intensity group programs for skills development and targeting comorbid issues that act as treatment barriers.
- Coordinated and collaborative individual and family out-patient treatment with psychiatrists, allied health clinicians as well as GP-lead medical monitoring and stabilisation.
Beyond our clinical care, Esus is committed to:
- Building capacity in the eating disorder workforce across the community
- Conducting quality improvement research leading to better treatment models and improved outcomes
- Advocating for eating disorder-affected individuals and their families
The team
The team consists of professionals from multiple disciplines who have extensive experience in the treatment of eating disorders across the life-span.
This includes psychiatrists, psychologists, dietitians, GPs, nurses, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, social workers and people with lived experience. Each member of the multidisciplinary team brings their unique expertise and perspective to the development of an individualised treatment plan that addresses the physical, psychological and nutritional aspects of an eating disorder.
Collaboration between all practitioners under one roof allows us to offer gold-standard treatment focussed on recovery.
